NPWA to Begin Construction of 24-inch Transmission Main in Hatfield Township and Borough

June 19, 2018

Lansdale, PA—June 19, 2018--North Penn Water Authority will begin construction of a new 24-inch transmission main on Bergey Road, Penn Street and Maple Avenue in Hatfield Borough and Hatfield Township this week. This project is part of North Penn Water Authority’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, water quality and fire protection to its customers.

A road closure and detour will be in effect during the hours of construction from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on Township and Borough roadways and from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on PaDOT roadways. NPWA anticipates the construction work to take approximately 11 to 13 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

“Construction of a new 24-inch transmission main ensures that NPWA can provide our customers in that area with safe, reliable access to drinking water and adequate fire protection,” said Tony Bellitto, executive director of North Penn Water Authority. “It’s imperative that we improve and maintain our water system to avoid potential catastrophic consequences due to deteriorating water infrastructure. We truly appreciate the patience and cooperation of our customers during this project.”
